The Saturday Spanish School was ChiCeLaCu’s Founding Program and laid the groundwork for future expansion into preschool education, summer camps, and after and before-school enrichment. It welcomes heritage and proficient speakers as well as language learners. Classes run from September to June. Teachers set academic goals and objectives for the year and assign reading and writing homework. To update parents on their child’s progress and showcase student achievement, ChiCeLaCu offers parent-teacher conferences, progress reports, and interactive class presentations. ChiCeLaCu Fairfax accepts children starting in kindergarten, while the Tysons location accepts students starting at age 4, provided they have attended preschool the previous year.
ChiCeLaCu Tysons welcomes students of all language backgrounds, from native and heritage Spanish speakers to beginner language learners The program offers two distinct tracks: one for highly proficient speakers and another for language learners at beginner to advanced levels. Students are placed in groups based on language level and age.
The Fairfax location is open to beginner language learners only ages ages 5 to 9.
This accelerated program applies the Spanish for Native Speakers curriculum and places a strong emphasis on reading, writing, grammar, handwriting, geography, and history. Children joining this program are already fluent or highly proficient in the language, and thus greater focus is placed upon developing more advanced verbal, reading, and writing competencies.
ChiCeLaCu welcomes children new to the language as well as those at the beginner and intermediate levels. Conversational fluency is achieved and/or improved through fun, interactive activities, including storytelling, arts and crafts, drawing, poetry, music, reading, writing, plays, and role playing.
